EC- Food Inc

    The thoughts that ran through my head were along the lines of I'm not eating chicken no more. The film Fresh is about the food industry and how farmers use sustainable and unsustainable farming techniques. Whether one likes organic or chemically sprayed foods but it all counter acts with the amount of money one has to splurge on groceries. There were multiple farmers in the videos that have their own outlook on the way they do farming and what they believe is good for them. 

Joel Salatin is a farmer that exercises sustainable farming and rotating fields for his animals to live. Then there's Will Allen a former basketball player who helps people learn the fundamental of urban farming. David Bell is a businessman that teamed up with local farmers to sell there crops there at the local super market due to Wal-Mart putting others out of business. Then the last farmer who doesn't utilize antibiotics in his animals due to an incident with a hog that made it susceptible to multiple antibiotics to treat his wound but he was resistant to all of it. 

    My reaction to the film was quite all over the place but during the time i was watching the movie I was on lunch. The film was enough to decide that I don't want to eat meat no more. The unsustainable farming of chickens really took me by surprise due to how the chicks were handled and how the chickens beaks were cut off as well as their claws. I think it was inhumane and uncalled for. Especially the part where they housed 2600 hundred pigs in one building. The vast amount of animals in a limited space is unjust. I'm sorry after this film my approach to food is so different now then before. 

    I am angry with the United States government allowing the sale of chemically sprayed food to the American people just for dollar bills. The amount of health issues that could stem from all the pesticides is outrageous. This topic is horrifying to go into details with and I have so many negative feelings for the government and the farmers who use the chemicals on food.
